The Department and the School are committed to enhancing the diversity and inclusiveness of the community and curriculum. This recruitment seeks exceptional individuals to contribute to and lead independent, externally funded research in cancer prevention and control, with an emphasis on reducing cancer disparities. Competitive applicants are expected to utilize an array of mixed methods approaches to inform cancer care delivery and improve outcomes, including large secondary database analyses (e.g., SEER-Medicare data and other linked administrative data), qualitative methods, quantitative survey methods, decision modeling and behavioral interventions. Specific areas of content-area expertise targeted for this recruitment include: implementation science in cancer; access to cancer care providers; quantification of high-value cancer care; and supportive interventions to reduce cancer burden, particularly in medically underserved populations in the US (e.g., rural, racial/ethnic minority, low-income and uninsured).

Successful applicants are expected to join a robust and well-funded multidisciplinary cancer outcomes research program, part of the cancer prevention and control program at the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. Successful applicants also will be expected to contribute to the educational and research mission of the Department of Health Policy and Management through guest lectures, research paper advising, and engagement in other departmental activities.

Educational RequirementsApplicants must have a doctorate in a relevant field including health services research, public policy, health economics, epidemiology, psychology, health behavior, or health education with outstanding quantitative methodological training.

Qualifications and ExperienceApplicants should have a publication and grant record that demonstrates promise to become an independent investigator.
