The RN-Staff/Clinical Nurse, at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine’s Department of Medicine – Section of Hematology, will assist in delivering high quality, efficient medical care to patients in an outpatient setting. The incumbent will support the faculty and fellows with patient care management. 

Responsibilities include: conducting comprehensive nursing assessments, obtaining patient history and vital signs; administering injections, maintaining records of vital statistics and other pertinent patient data in the EMR system; working with faculty members in clinic; appropriately fielding/triaging patient telephone calls regarding medication changes, clinical status, prescription renewals, changes in condition etc.; providing individual assistance to patients, families and caregivers to help identify and overcome barriers which may hinder quality medical patient care; providing information and feedback to referring physicians and third party payers; scheduling patient admissions and transfers and other tests for assessment and evaluation of blood diseases; and obtaining required pre-cert or prior authorization to assure the timely approvals of patients complex treatments and drugs. The incumbent is also responsible for providing ongoing health education and counseling activities; prompt abnormal test reporting and follow-up; and maintaining follow-up logs for record keeping purposes; and working closely with our nurse navigator, social worker and infusion nurses. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
Professional licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of PA.

*Demonstrated computer skills and ability to navigate multiple computer applications. 
*Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
*Proven organizational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail.

*Spanish speaking skills. 
*Experience with hematologic malignancies
*ACLS certification.
