As a member of the Bioassay group, you will be responsible for developing, qualifying and validating biological assays in support of our drug discovery programs. You will have an understanding of cell biology, pharmacology, immunology, or a closely related discipline. This will include an understanding of receptor biology and signal transduction. You will be responsible for conducting experiments in the lab and writing the results in lab notebooks as well as contributing to reports.
Biopharmaceuticals: The field of research and development concerning biopharmaceuticals (medical drugs produced using biotechnology)
Performs biological discovery and development research within a major or significant therapeutic area or a sub-speciality (e.g. biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology).
Science and Technology: Designs and executes studies to discover, understand, model, simulate, and create new drug molecules. Researches target identification, target validation, drug interactions with targets or receptors, and assay development. Maintains knowledge of competitive market conditions, patient requirements and technology advances.
Bachelor of Science in biology, pharmacology, immunology, or closely related field
0 to 3 years of experience in academia or pharmaceutical industry.
Prior experience with cell culture, bioassay and aseptic techniques
Experience analyzing data and reporting data in laboratory notebooks
2+ Years’ experience in running and analysis bioassays in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment with a total of at least 5 years relevant post graduate experience.
Ability to independently design, troubleshoot and execute bio-assay experiments.
Experience analyzing data, interpreting results and reporting data in laboratory notebooks
Preferred qualifications Scientist:
Familiarity with bioassay development
Experience with some or all of the following; flow cytometry, reporter gene assays, ADCC, complement activation assays.
Collaborates well within and across groups.
Performs timely data management and analysis.
Knowledge and experience with GMP a plus.
A good team player who communicates well and has problem solving skills.
Knowledge of protein biochemistry, Immunology or pharmacology
Ability/competency using bioassay techniques
Ability to maintain accurate, complete laboratory records
Preferred qualifications Senior Scientist:
Experience designing, running, troubleshooting bioassay in a development organization
Familiarity with the development of antibodies and other biopharm molecules
Experience with Flow cytometry.
Collaborates well with others in the group and across groups.
Performs timely data management and analysis.
Knowledge and experience with GMP.
Good team player who communicates well and has problem solving skills.
The candidates must be creative and motivated self-starters, with excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in team and matrix environments.
As a senior scientist, you will have gained hands-on experience at troubleshooting cell-based bioassay. It is preferable that you also have a good understanding of the mode of action of biologic products, including antibody effector functions, receptor binding and activation pathways. A general understanding of molecular biology would be desirable. GMP experience is strongly desired but not essential depending on other experience. Good communication skills, a strong desire to succeed, and the ability to work with Microsoft office products as well as work will with others in a team environment are important skills.
Bioanalytical sciences are seeking 3 candidates to join their bioassay group to aid in the discovery, and development of bioassay methods for use in GMP release and stability testing.
