Job Summary
The Senior Data Governance Analyst provides crucial support and oversight in the effort to ensure the quality and usability of business data across various platforms.
In addition to maturing and socializing data best-practices and standards, the analyst: applies those standards in the evaluation of proposed data structures and definition; executes manual and automated processes required to build and preserve data knowledge (metadata); and supports our Data Management Security and Quality workstreams.

The ideal candidate has an in-depth understanding of how data supports business processes, and knowledge of the data management practices and tools that maximize data value.
They are skilled in analysis and pay strong attention to detail and quality.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

- Governance:
- As the coordinator of the Personal Lines Information Review Board, facilitate data governance sessions with Business and IT Partners in attendance
- Ensure that solutions (structure, values, relationships, quality standards) meet operational and business need
- Work with business areas and project team members to understand new business data capabilities and perform impact analysis to determine additional data requirements

- Metadata Management:
- Support the development and implementation of metadata repositories.
Will participate in defining, loading, and maintaining metadata.
Adhere to the structure, best practices, and storage needs of the data lineage.

- Data Quality:
- Provide support to other organizational units and resources to gather, analyze, and present data.
Perform data profiling, analyze and communicate results in support of data quality processes.

- Standards/Best Practice:
- Support the further development of PI Data Management standards and best practices, in line with Enterprise and Industry standards

- Operational Support:
- Consult on projects, resolve simple to moderate data issues, and provide training and mentoring to clients and peers
- Handle simple to moderate root cause analysis of business data issues and provides technical data guidance on complex issues
- Support the development of strategic data architecture solutions

- Training and Communications:
- Promote data culture and data management awareness
- Provide metadata tool socialization and training for the Personal Insurance data community

- Represent unit and department functions as part of Data Management committees with internal and external areas.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
4 years analytics experience required.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge

- Bachelors degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or Business preferred.
- 4 years experience in data management or related experience preferred.
- Experience training others.
Insurance knowledge preferred.
- Demonstrates general understanding of overall data models, data relationships, mapping lineage and business rules.
- Acts as subject matter experts on specific aspects of data availability and usage, assisting in the arbitration of differences of data interpretations and guidance to projects, business and technology areas.
- Thorough knowledge of tools and software used to extract and analyze data in the data management function preferred.
