Senior Director, Controllership
The Senior Director – Controllership is a key member of Content Distribution’s financial leadership team. Within Content Distribution, the role works closely with operators, collaborates across finance disciplines (FP&A, Pricing, Revenue Operations, Accounting) and works with the VP and CFO, providing leadership for accounting/close activities, technical accounting guidance, audit support and day to day management over the division’s contract compliance programs. Additionally, the Sr. Director – Controllership represents Content Distribution on the Global NBCU Controllership Council and partners closely with the Corporate Controllership team to develop key initiatives and implement them locally.
Provide technical accounting guidance and thought leadership on accounting implications around emerging business models, changing industry dynamics, new accounting standards/policies, etc.
Oversee and manage monthly close activities, ensuring all deliverables are met on time and accurately. Lead quarterly pre-close meetings with the division CFO and senior finance leaders. Prepare and present a quarterly balance sheet review to VP and CFO.
Be the main point of contact with external audit teams conducting annual financial audits. Provide SOX compliance leadership, including managing process controls design and coordinating annual compliance audits.
Manage policy compliance efforts and lead local implementations of NBCU corporate programs. Represent Content Distribution as a member of NBCU’s global Controllership Council.
Partner with the CDG Revenue Operations finance team to manage third party audits of distributors.
Manage daily operations of the division’s contract compliance programs, partnering with Sales, Legal, Marketing, IT, etc. to ensure the program requirements are fulfilled. Participate as a member of the division’s Sales and Compliance Steering Committee, along with senior division leadership.
Supervise a team of two.
Ad hoc projects, as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting or related field
Minimum 5 years previous experience in an accounting / controllership role
Demonstrates good judgement and high integrity.
Strong command of balance sheet, P&L and general ledger mechanics.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Confidently participates in team discussions, providing insights and recommendations.
Outstanding organizational and follow up skills; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
Team player… proactively communicates, assists others, looks for opportunities to improve processes
Demonstrates strong initiative and ownership over scope of responsibility
Strong problem solving skills
Strong computer skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
