DESCRIPTIONAs an integral component of our multi-disciplinary Architecture/Engineering Practice, Michael Baker International is looking for a Senior Architect who is enthusiastic and motivated with responsibilities including design and documentation for a broad range of project types. With an ongoing focus on growing Federal, Department of Defense, and International project opportunities, along with market-driven diversification including Healthcare, Commercial, Transit, and Adaptive Re-Use, the Senior Architect will work in multi-disciplinary, collaborative design teams with architects, interior designers, site/civil engineers, and building systems engineers. The successful candidate will demonstrate creative problem-solving, organizational skills, strong production management capabilities, and a good understanding of construction documents and constructability.•Engages in and directs activities associated with planning, design, and construction documents including code analysis documents, studies, reports, sketches, schematic drawings, renderings, specifications, final contract documents, and as-built drawings•Along with the Project Manager and other design professionals, communicates with clients to establish project scope of work, building program needs, design fees, project schedule and budgets•Prepares architectural staffing plans•Assists Leadership with business growth planning and actively engages in project pursuits•Develops Technical and Price proposals in pursuit of new work for the Building Engineering Department•Develops project scopes, schedules and budgets•Consults with client to determine functional and spatial requirements of new structure, site or renovation, and prepares information regarding design, specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs, and construction time•Plans layout of project and integrates architectural elements into unified design for client review and approval•Prepares scale drawings and contract documents for building contractors•Administers advertisement and bidding activities for clients, reviews submittals, answers Requests for Information, reviews pay applications and conducts periodic on-site observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with plans•Oversees the preparation of plans using computer assisted design software and equipment•Performs Quality Control Reviews•Maintains working knowledge of current industry software including Revit and BIM•Other duties as assignedPROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS•BS/BA Architecture; Bachelor of Architecture; or MS/MA Architecture (4-6 Year Degree), with initial licensure as a Registered Architect (RA)•NCARB Certification•LEED BD+C or Guiding Principles Certification preferred•10+ year of experience in the design and documentation of architecture projects beyond initial licensure, including well-developed skills in three-dimensional visualization and comprehensive building design•Design talent, graphic presentation, and effective visual/verbal communication skills•Possess a proficient understanding of inter-relationships among design/engineering disciplines, clients, and constructors•Excellent English language skills, written and verbal•Demonstrated proficiency in Building Information Modeling (BIM)[Autodesk Revit Architecture], AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Word/Excel)•Experience with graphics/rendering software to quickly and effectively communicate ideas is preferred•Federal experience is a plusBENEFITS OF WORKING FOR MICHAEL BAKER INTERNATIONAL•A great benefits package (medical, dental, vision)•401(K) matching•Paid personal time off•Tuition reimbursement program for higher education•Internal training programs for various career paths•Flexible work environments, including potential alternative work schedules and telecommuting options•Competitive salaries•Office team building and recognition activities•Engineers Without Borders and other volunteer opportunities#LI-JM1MICHAEL BAKER INTERNATIONAL EEO STATEMENTMichael Baker International is proud to be an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
