Responsibilities
Role Summary:
The Senior Financial Analyst is part of the Universal Production Finance team that supports the development, production, music and live theatre businesses across multiple film labels.  This role will provide key financial support to Universal’s Film Music group and is responsible for managing the various financial and reporting requirements.  The SFA will also provide FP&A support for the Live Theatre division.
 
This role interacts with Film Music operations, Live Theatre operations, Controllership, and external companies, and must be able to work well with all levels in a corporate function.  The qualified candidate must be highly organized and process-oriented with the ability to multi-task and balance priorities on competing initiatives.  A background in the music industry and/or live theater is preferred.

Essential Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day financial responsibilities across the music publishing, soundtracks, and licensing functions
Responsible for calculating all royalty obligations to 3rd parties on a quarterly basis and issuing statements semi-annually
Partner with Film Music and IT teams to implement a new soundtrack system to track revenue and calculate royalty obligations
Allocate music publishing revenue by title across multiple NBCU divisions (Universal Pictures, NBC, DreamWorks Animation, Focus Features, etc.)
Maintain current music publishing database and work with IT on enhancements to the reporting tool
Monitor status of soundtrack advances and recording budgets with 3rd party labels
Track pending and closed licensing deals by customer and song
Provide coding and supporting documentation for all music-related cash receipts
Assist with Live Theatre’s P&L and cash budgeting, pacing, and closing processes
Perform ad hoc analyses, reconciliations, and data compilation for Music and Live Theatre
Provide support for executive management reporting and presentations
Actively pursue and implement enhancements to existing systems and processes

 
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in Finance and/or Accounting (royalty processing, music, etc. preferred).
Microsoft Excel proficiency

Working knowledge of SAP
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail and high standards in quality and accurate reporting
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience communicating with all levels of an organization
Ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments in a constantly changing environment and work well under pressure
Must meet deadlines, and be willing to work overtime, as necessary
Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
