What you’ll be doing...
The Senior Manager of VCP (the Verizon Cloud Platform) Security will serve as the lead for the cross-functional team of VCP Risk Analysts charged with evaluating risk, recommending improvements, and staying up to date on OpenStack security. The manager will lead a team dedicated to continually reviewing and improving the security of our cloud infrastructure built on OpenStack. The manager will also contribute to the architecture, planning, design, engineering and operations for various security tools used by the team. This will require hands-on work and high technical proficiency in information security, systems and network administration. Additionally, the manager will be responsible for developing and documenting an applicable process or methodology for implementing the security standards on an ongoing basis. The candidate will be responsible for designing and developing new process or methodologies to enhance security and streamline new or existing workflows.
The manager will work directly with Verizon’s vendors, industry partners, network planning, engineering, and operations teams to ensure that all network elements, systems, and applications contain and implement the best possible cyber security protections.
The manager is expected to work independently within broad guidelines supplied by executive management. They should be a thought leader for both this organization and for corporate cyber security initiatives, and will drive the operational and strategic growth of the organization. The manager will also be expected to work closely with security organizations in other business units and at the corporate level. They should be willing to mentor and advise others.
Coordinate with other security teams (e.g. VCP Operations, Identity &Access Management, Risk Management, Vulnerability Management) inside and outside the business unit.
Lead weekly staff meetings and review/analyze weekly status reports for actionable items.
Conduct performance reviews, help team members execute career development plans and interview and hire staff as necessary.
Manage capital and expense budget to ensure timely implementation of spending and drive cost transformations where possible.

You'll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or sixmore years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Experience working in the information security field.
Even better if you have:
Ability to balance multiple competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
Demonstrated supervisory, leadership and mentoring experience.
Strong verbal/written communication and presentation skills
Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment with multiple business partners.
7+ years of experience and background in network security, telecommunications with work history over the last three or more years in a technical support role.
Strong knowledge of network security standards and their implementation in compliance to corporate security policies.
Knowledge of security best practices with prior responsibilities protecting information assets.
Ability to translate security requirements implementation into formal written procedures.
Strong knowledge of Network Layers, Network Architecture and Network Topology.
Strong knowledge OpenStack framework implementation.
Experience in the support of Data, transport and Midrange network platforms.
Experience with TACACS / RADIUS AAA user and administrative support.
An understanding of general database concepts, hardware and software troubleshooting.
Excellent documentation and organization skills.
Ability to multi-task, take direction, prioritize, and manage multiple activities / tasks to achieve objectives.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with the capability to present and communicate to both superiors and peers.
Knowledge and experience in designing, configuring, implementing, troubleshooting and supporting security solutions on multi-site critical network environments.
Knowledge of integrating security requirements with identity stores, relational databases, application servers and physical access management systems.
Experience in building, updating, and maintaining technical training documentation.
Experience analyzing security components of targeted system to identify weaknesses and develop opportunities for improvement (evaluation process).
Experience providing policy and procedure interpretation and clarification,
