What you’ll be doing...
In this role, you'll apply your knowledge, experience and expertise to design and develop cloud computing, software defined networking, and network functions virtualization in large scale telecommunications network environments. You will work alongside members of the Architecture and Advanced Technologies team. You will also participate in Verizon ONAP projects and advocate to/on behalf of the Verizon open source community and drive awareness and help build scalable SDN and Service orchestration platform.
Acting as the technology evangelist to embrace SDN/NFV open source solutions inside Verizon.
Exploring, understanding, analyzing and demonstrating the capabilities of open source technologies/platforms to provide solutions for SDN/NFV use cases.
Leading open source technical charter and driving the community contributions (architecting, designing and developing).
Influencing the open source communities to drive the standards based and future proof operations architecture.
Interfacing with external and internal stake holders to build and promote operations proof open source solutions for Verizon.
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Experience in the Datacom and Networking industry.
Even better if you have:
Master's degree in Engineering with ten or more years of experience in the Datacom and Networking industry
Passion and expertise towards contributing and adapting open source solutions as part of the SDN/NFV transformation journey.
Experience in leading/driving open source explorations/contributions.
In-depth knowledge in one or more programming languages (e.g., C/C++, Java, Python, Perl, Ruby, etc.)
Background and experience in open source related projects (e.g., OpenStack, ONOS, ECOMP, ONAP, OpenDaylight, OpenvSwitch, Cloud foundry, KVM, etc.)
Working knowledge of Cloud provided offerings.
Working knowledge of the wireless network architectures (in particular 5G, 4G/LTE, EPC) and application of AI to wireless communication.
Hands-on in building and operationalizing SDN/NFV solutions.
Strong development background developing applications using Python, JAVA.
Strong understanding and working experience in data modeling and orchestration templates for E2E Orchestration of Network Services.
Experienced in SOAP, RESTful Services, JSON, XML etc.
Hands-on experience with container technologies.
Knowledge of Agile Methodology and Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) Terraform.
