What you do at AMD changes everything
At AMD, we push the boundaries of what is possible.  We believe in changing the world for the better by driving innovation in high-performance computing, graphics, and visualization technologies – building blocks for gaming, immersive platforms, and the data center.
Developing great technology takes more than talent: it takes amazing people who understand collaboration, respect, and who will go the “extra mile” to achieve unthinkable results.  It takes people who have the passion and desire to disrupt the status quo, push boundaries, deliver innovation, and change the world.   If you have this type of passion, we invite you to take a look at the opportunities available to come join our team.
Do you:
Have experience developing traditional storage or software defined storage?
Like solving hard problems?
Like engaging with partners to solve them?
Want to get deep in the technical weeds, but also like variety?
Like being technical, but also like being close to the business?
The AMD Datacenter Solutions business team is looking for a Solution Architect to drive AMD’s technical engagement with the world’s leading storage companies, covering both traditional storage and software-defined storage.  This is a hands-on role working with storage providers to optimize their solutions on AMD architectures, allowing the architect to stay engaged at a technical level.  The Solution Architect will also lead long-term optimization discussions with providers platforms and/or software based on AMD’s forward-looking roadmap and provide technical presentations to software companies.  The candidate must be able to clearly articulate the technical differentiation and value proposition of AMD’s product roadmap.  The Solution Architect will also influence AMD’s product portfolio by providing the product management team with insights into the needs of datacenter software companies.
The Solution Architect must have a solid understanding of data flow in a system, software development, of how CPU architectural elements impact system performance, and be a credible subject matter expert to storage partners on AMD product capabilities.  The role will work closely with both the business and engineering teams within AMD, while establishing relationships throughout the server storage and software eco-system.
The Solution Architect will engage with partner architects and engineers to jointly work on performance optimizations, develop benchmarking plans, enable technical collateral (presentations, whitepapers, ..) to position AMD products in target market segments, and co-develop joint partner demos and proof-points.  The role will also work with partners to create SOW for implementations as needed.
The best applicant will have:
MS or PhD degree in Computer Science/Engineering or a related quantitative field with 5 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in these fields with 10+ years of experience.
Hands-on experience tuning storage and/or SDS systems at the node, rack, and datacenter level.
Deep understanding of storage platform data flow, including methods to find and debug performance bottlenecks
Strong understanding of the software development ecosystem, including compilers, math libraries, and performance profiling/debug tools.
Knowledgeable at both software application development level and at the CPU architecture level.
Ability to independently manage partner relationships.

About the company

Our history is marked by a commitment to innovation that's truly useful to our customers — putting the real needs of people ahead of technical one-upmanship.
“Technology for technology's sake” is not the way we do business at AMD. AMD founder Jerry Sanders has always maintained, “customers should come first, at every stage of a company's activities.”
We believe that our more than four-decade company history bears that out.
