Description

The Alexa Shopping Grocery Team, a team within Alexa Voice Shopping, enables customers to quickly build carts of all their household grocery needs using voice and across device formats such as the Echo Dot, Echo Show, Fire TV, and many more. Our vision is to enable a voice grocery experience that wows customers with its simplicity and convenience to take the hard (and boring) work out of grocery shopping.

Customers using Alexa to buy grocery items will be delighted when the virtual assistant knows their favorite products, predicts when things will run out, reminds them of items they may have forgotten, and helps them manage their household grocery needs. Alexa can help schedule deliveries right to home, or allow the customer to pick-up the order in a Whole Foods store.

What you will work on: We are seeking talented and experienced engineers to design and develop shopping experiences that start at home and/or help the customer in the store. You'll have the freedom (and encouragement) to experiment, invent, and innovate on how grocery shopping should work. Our customers shouldn’t need to think about what groceries they need; Amazon should just know. Using speech recognition, natural language understanding, machine learning, research science and other big data technologies, you will have an impact on Amazon's new devices and the way shopping both online and offline. You will get to influence the overall architecture, and build things to massively scale. Finally, you will have the satisfaction of being able to look back and say you were a key contributor to something special from its earliest stages.

* Equivalent experience to a Bachelor's degree based on 3 years of work experience for every 1 year of education
* 3+ years professional experience in software development

About the company

Amazon strives to be Earth's most customer-centric company where people can find and discover virtually anything they want to buy online. By giving customers more of what they want - low prices, vast selection, and convenience - Amazon continues to grow and evolve as a world-class e-commerce platform.

Founded by Jeff Bezos, the Amazon.com website started in 1995 as a place to buy books because of the unique customer experience the Web could offer book lovers. Bezos believed that only the Internet could offer customers the convenience of browsing a selection of millions of book titles in a single sitting. During the first 30 days of business, Amazon fulfilled orders for customers in 50 states and 45 countries - all shipped from his Seattle-area garage.

Amazon's evolution from Web site to e-commerce partner to development platform is driven by the spirit of innovation that is part of the company's DNA. The world's brightest technology minds come to Amazon.com to research and develop technology that improves the lives of shoppers and sellers around the world.
