Job Description

The position has the overall responsibility for timely and accurate processing of assigned employee payroll checks including collection, review, input, edit, output and verification of payroll data. Explain and interpret complex payroll information to employees at all levels of the organization. Use of analytical skills to identify and address potential issues. Assist in specialized processing and assigned projects, requiring more detailed knowledge of payroll procedures.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Process outside department timekeeping data accurately by the required deadline
Consistently apply company policy and government regulations to all processing
Review audit reports for processing errors and request corrections as necessary
Research employee questions and provide resolution, as dictated by company policy
Review contracts and apply special processing requirements to specialized workforce groups, such as unions
Organize and maintain records to enable special processing that reduces the occurrences of incorrect payroll payments
Assist in special projects and testing of new processing systems
Provide training as needed
Communicate all discrepancies to payroll supervisor or department timekeeper as necessary
Other duties as required
Job Qualifications

Five or more years of working in a high volume, multi-state payroll department
Seven or more years of business experience
Familiarity with accounting principles relating to funds disbursements, payroll tax statutory requirements and payment regulations
Familiarity with garnishment processing
Associate's degree or higher preferred
Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook experience required
