Job Overview Works closely with application and business teams to plan, design, implement, secure and manage relational and non-relational data platforms. Establishes and maintains security and integrity controls for supported platforms. Proposes and implements enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system. Creates processes and standards for new and existing data platforms. Develops automation and reporting of compliance for existing policies and procedures. Responsibilities Include:
Install, configure and upgrade SQL Server software and related products
Design, create, maintain and ensure recoverability of SQL Server databases
Allocate systems storage and develop plans for future storage requirements
Establish effective database performance monitoring procedures
Control and monitor user access to databases and maintain database security
Provide reliable, recoverable and scalable database computing environments to store and integrate company data
Set up and maintain documentation and standards. Required Skills & Experience:
You must have 5+ years of SQL Server database experience.
Enterprise production DBA experience working in a mid to large sized company required.
Experience with cloud hosted databases in Azure/AWS or GCP.
Task and configuration automation experience with exposure to DevOps, CI/CD. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures that project tasks and daily database activities are completed.
Ensures that databases comply with security requirements
Ensures database health and availability using documented procedures.
Ensures that backups are run successfully, develops automated backup schedules, and investigates failure alerts to address issues.
Responds to incidents and requests, follows documented instructions to resolve issues, and updates procedures.
Manages individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with minimal supervision.
Conducts analyses to help determine the cause of database issues.
Responds to capacity issues and requests, follows documented instructions to resolve capacity issues, and updates procedures.
Adapts to significant changes and setbacks in order to manage pressure and meet deadlines independently.
Seeks out learning opportunities to increase own knowledge and skill within and outside of domain of expertise.
Implements documented high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
Determines which work tasks are most important for self and junior personnel, manages distractions, and independently deals with setbacks in a timely manner.
Serves as a technical lead on a sub-system or small feature, assigns work to a small project team, and works on advanced tasks to complete a project.
Acts as a resource for less knowledgeable personnel.

Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree and 3+ years IT-relevant work experience OR 5+ years IT-relevant work experience without a bachelors degree.

Preferred Qualifications
Enterprise production DBA experience working in a mid to large sized company required.
Experience with cloud-hosted databases in Azure/AWS or GCP.
Task and configuration automation experience with exposure to DevOps, CI/CD.
Strong knowledge of database backup and recovery, dbcc commands and maintenance tasks
Experience with SQL Server 2008-2017
Experience in design and implementation of highly available, scalable SQL Server database solutions
Performance tuning experience using Profiler, extended events, Perfmon and DMV queries
Experience with SQL Server HA technologies (clustering, mirroring, replication, AlwaysON, etc.)
Experience managing multi-terabyte databases
Experience working on high-profile, externally facing, revenue generating, large scale projects
Experience with configuration and task automation using tools such as Chef, Ansible or PowerShell DSC
An understanding of modern architecture and development practices (DevOps/Lean/Agile)
Knowledge of networking and enterprise systems architecture
Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, meet project deadlines, and work under pressure
Excellent communication, customer service and people skills
Ability to effectively present
