Role Overview:
Performs expediting activities on a project in accordance with Project Procurement and Functional Expediting Procedures.  Ensures the timely delivery of materials and equipment to meet project needs.  May at times be responsible for supervision, direction and monitoring of Expediting Specialists.  Provides assistance to the Expediting Supervisor for the input and assessment of project job-hour and monetary budgets.
 
Essential Job Duties:
Reports to the Project Expediting Supervisor for operational guidance and to the business unit Functional Expediting Manager for functional guidance.
Will maintain focus on project’s estimate baseline.  Recommends a course of action to bring hours or other activities back in line with budget or, if justified, initiate Trends to the Project Supply Chain Manager for a scope change request.
Reviews area expediting assignments and recommends corrective action on problems identified in the reports.
Reviews the performance of third party service providers of expediting services and furnishes comments to global business unit Expediting for action.
Evaluates production schedules and progress reports from suppliers to determine if their programs and work progress meet jobsite requirements.
Compiles data needed to prepare the critical items reports, or other supplementary reports as required. 
Coordinates with planning and scheduling, field material coordinators, or jobsite project expeditors and construction to establish priorities, sequences, and required delivery dates and instructs suppliers accordingly.
Expedites Bechtel engineering for the timely review, approval and return of engineering data submitted by suppliers.
Obtains copies of supplier’s orders for material, performs sub-supplier expediting, where necessary, and works closely with Supplier Quality representatives to ensure awareness of materials being inspected and their locations of manufacture.
Participates in pre- and post-award meetings to review and discuss schedules and potential problem areas that may impact required delivery dates.
Coordinates shipping arrangements or tracking requests with the project Logistics representative.
Subject to project requirements, monitors the issuance of material requisitions, and other project and procurement actions affecting material deliveries.
Ensures supplier evaluation reports are input into the Supplier Information System.
Responsible to support implementation of corporate and business unit capital cost initiatives and report against established plans and targets.
Accountable to the project schedule and progress and performance to include planning, pre-award, and post award administration of procurements.
Prepares and organizes assigned Procurement-sponsored meetings, such as post-award kick-off or progress meetings, to ensure complete understanding and agreement between Bechtel, the customer and supplier on all purchase order matters.
Attends project status meetings and reports status of area of responsibility. Participates in the Procurement Material Status (Bucksheet) meeting, produces and distributes meeting minutes and accountable to closing open actions.
Responsible to maintain key/critical supplier relationships with supplier’s senior project personnel executing orders to ensure performance of the work.
Provides expert input to Negotiation Plans.
Accountable for integrity of records management for respective team as it relates to purchase order administration activities.
Responsible to oversee supplier performance and cause to be initiated, appropriate notices including notices of backcharges/claims.
 
Experience/Qualification:
7 years’ experience in commercial aspects of procurement of major equipment and bulk materials.
Has worked on large projects ($3 billion) in a Senior Expeditor or lead Expediting role.
Proficient in interpreting schedules to ensure that realistic milestones are established required activities occur on time, and that interface between activities is maintained.
Knowledge of general business practices and administrative procedures and oral communication regarding technical and production matters with both project and supplier personnel.
Knowledge of equipment and material fabrication sequencing and plant construction sequencing.
Experience in techniques of expediting of materials and equipment.  Working and process familiarity with Engineering, Planning and
