Position Description

our members by identifying their most pressing challenges and uncovering the
best practice solutions so they don’t have to reinvent the wheel. They lead teams to research, analyze, write,
and present multiple research initiatives per year. Initiatives typically
examine the forces that have shaped the current state of the industry and will
determine its evolution and future. By profiling best-demonstrated practices of
leading organizations, initiatives provide our member institutions with future
vision and tactical guidance.


Senior Consultant – Health Plans, plays a leadership role in
identifying and solving the problems of our member organizations. They work with health plan executives to
understand their common, pressing challenges, and then develop provocative
hypotheses that challenge conventional wisdom.
They conduct root-cause analyses and lead a team through a research
process that consists of member interviews and a review of third-party and
primary sources. They have primary
day-to-day responsibility for product quality and the creation of original
insights that our members will use. They
also have responsibility for presenting the research to member organizations
individually and in large group settings.
The Senior Consultant – Health Plans works with commercial teams to
identify growth opportunities and ensure the collateral is consistent with the
market need.


This opportunity is based in Washington, D.C.


Primary Responsibilities:


- Strategic and root cause analysis
- Ability to formulate and defend original points
of view
- Synthesis of complex ideas
- Strong client management
- Effective team management and staff development
- Effective use of graphics and writing to communicate
ideas and information


Examples of recent research initiatives include:


- Steps to encourage providers to take downside
risk
- Health plan member engagement
- How to influence referral patterns by providing
physicians with better data


Required Qualifications:


- Knowledge of health plan operations and comfort
interacting with health plan and physician executives
- Demonstrated experience leading in a consulting,
research or other analytical problem-solving role
- Success managing clients (internal or external)
and leading teams
- Comfort creating timely written and graphical
client deliverables
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 6+ years of experience working in a professional
setting


Preferred Qualifications:


- MBA, MPH, or other advanced degree
- Ability to quickly determine appropriate
analyses and direct analysts to conduct them
- Intellectual curiosity
- Comfort presenting and discussing findings with
executive audiences
- Experience working with clients in a
consultative role
- Health plan experience
- Experience working in a collaborative team
environment, as well as independently
- Experience with analytical problem solving
- Comfort with ambiguity
