What you’ll be doing...
The Verizon Wireline Strategy group is responsible for developing and implementing strategies, priorities and initiatives that lead to improvements in customer satisfaction, profitable revenue growth and return on investment. This position works with the wireline business unit leaders, corporate stakeholders and external resources to generate mid-term growth and shareholder value creation. This group analyzes and identifies wireline business gaps, opportunities, market demand, near and mid-term strategies and generates insights and strategies to help inform:
New business and profitable growth opportunities, both organic and inorganic
Wireline resource allocation
Disruptive business models
Levers within the wireless business units to create long-term shareholder value
Emerging business trends (e.g. NFV, SDN, Ethernet, OTT Video, Unified Communications, Fixed Wireless Access, The Real Time Enterprise)
You will conduct quantitative, financial, and qualitative analyses to determine the next mid-term growth inflection points for our wireline businesses, including understanding the data, performing the analysis and generating output that can be reviewed to make recommendations. Specific focus will go towards wireline services (e.g. Fios, Video, Ethernet, and next generation enterprise solutions) for the Consumer, Small Business, Enterprise and Partner solutions groups within Verizon.
Leveraging market insights to recommend new growth opportunities that will advance business goals.
Researching and applying critical thinking to industry trends, competitor dynamics and current trends to provide relevant business insights.
Generating insights on key business challenges through competitive analysis and market research.
Developing financial models, performing customized company valuation analysis, and being actively involved in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions and fixed income and equity issuances.
Synthesizing findings and summarizing a broad range of data inputs into frameworks that enable clear communication of data and insights.
Collaborating with senior strategy managers in the team to enable them with findings that they can review to formulate strategic recommendations.
Participating in scenario planning and “war gaming” workshops.
Creating financial analyses, including building business-specific financial models, valuation analyses, merger modeling, corporate finance solutions, etc.
Assisting with client development by coordinating data with clients, and assisting with the presentation of new ideas to clients.
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
Four or more years of relevant work experience.
Four or more years of corporate finance experience in IBD classic or the financing group, or at a corporate or an investment bank outside the firm.
Even better if you have:
Two or more years of experience working in a top-tier management consulting firm, such as Bain, BCG, McKinsey, tech boutiques, etc.
Six or more years of experience.
Experience in corporate strategy, strategy consulting, or technology consulting.
Background or demonstrated interest in telecom, technology or media.
Team player approach with experience working both in teams and as an individual contributor.
Excellent quantitative analysis and financial modeling skills.
Robust communication skills (long-form writing, PowerPoint and verbal).
Highly developed strategic skills and business acumen.
Ability to synthesize information quickly and present insights to senior management.
Passion for arriving at the answer through a combination of independent research, financial analysis, competitive benchmarking and data; non-biased fact-based strategy formulation.
Proficiency with financial accounting and ability to identify insights from financial statements.
Intellectual curiosity, comfort working in dynamic environments and creative approach.
Enthusiasm for disruptive technologies and the media space (both new and traditional).
Excellent research, problem solving, and analytical skills, including excellent PowerPoint and Excel capabilities, with impeccable analytical and business judgment.
Experience with relative value creation by looking at competitive benchmarks, industry trends and market dynamics.
Experience with customer value mapping.
Proven track record of problem identification, solution development, implementation and post-implementation
