Royal Canin is looking for a Thermal Process Technologist/Site Sterilization Expert in North Sioux City, South Dakota



Job Overview:

This position is responsible for and will support thermal process activities at the North Sioux City, SD wet pet food manufacturing facility(s). These activities will include but are not limited to heat penetration and temperature distribution testing, process deviation evaluation and other thermal processing responsibilities as defined by the Regulatory requirements and/or Mars Standards. This position will work closely with product development, quality and production associates in executing experimental testing that spans existing and future packaging formats such as pouches, tubs, cans and custom made containers if applicable. Oversite is also provided by the Mars Process Authority.


Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate and conduct heat penetration and temperature distribution testing on the retorts at both RNS and RSD.
Promptly evaluate thermal process deviations at the site and escalate deviations to the Process Authority or designate for evaluation and product disposition.
Responsible for ensuring site compliance to Mars Global Sterilization Standard as well as all regulatory requirements related to product sterilization.
Responsible for the oversite of the retort cooling water chemical composition/quality as well as microbiological testing program of the retort cooling water.
Responsible for the implementation of all thermal process documents including standard operating procedures.
Responsible for ensuring that all FDA filed processes are implemented and accurately programmed into all retorts and verified.
Coordinate and lead mock low-acid canned foods (LACF) audits for the site. Also responsible for conducting routine inspections of thermal process activities (equipment and associates) to ensure compliance to food safety and regulatory requirements.
Responsible for coordinating with the Process Authority to disposition non-conformances that feed into CAPA actions.
Maintain an awareness of and provide input/direction to Maintenance for any proposed changes to the retorts or data collection systems.
