Responsibilities
NBC 10 is looking for a talented and experienced journalist who can bring their storytelling talents to the NBC10 Morning show by producing and presenting traffic information for a large, multi-state area. The ideal candidate will be able to identify the common trouble spots, build a network of sources to provide accurate information quickly and incorporate a variety of storytelling tools (live traffic cameras, photographers on the ground, maps, graphics, skyforce10) to help commuters navigate around problems. Your primary focus is to save commuters time, by alerting them to accidents, construction and mass transit delays and establish yourself as the market authority.
 
You must be aggressive in responding to breaking traffic reports, have a conversational and authoritative presence on television and be a savvy social media user. You will be expected to build upon the “First Alert” brand and expand our audience reach on multiple platforms. This includes posting real-time traffic alerts to social media, pitching story ideas, and reporting on traffic and transportation issues that provide added value for our morning audience.
 
The most qualified candidate will be an innovator who is aggressive behind the scenes, dynamic on-air, a social media star, and a team player who wants to do whatever it takes to win.

Key Responsibilities
Provide traffic reports for a 3 hour morning show (4am – 7am) with updates every ten minutes. Also provide traffic reports for morning Today Show cutins
Become the expert on the traffic technology and computer system to maximize our on air reporting with the best visuals and most valuable information, presented in the most clear and concise way
Work closely with producers, directors and assignment editors to communicate content that crosses between traffic and news
Build network of sources with area transportation agencies to confirm information quickly and create a source of traffic and transportation related stories
Contribute story ideas under the “First Alert Traffic” brand, conduct interviews, write stories that uncover new information and provide new information and value to morning commuters on deadline



 
Qualifications/Requirements
Qualifications
-Enterprise reporter who can develop original story ideas on a daily basis
-Live reporting experience required
-Clear communicator with excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
-Proven problem solver
-Ability to work and prioritize in fast-paced, high-pressure environment
-Ability to handle breaking news and meet story deadlines
-Ability to read, write, speak and understand English

Education/Experience
-Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or related field
-2+ years of traffic/news reporting experience
