What you’ll be doing...
You will be responsible for the design and provisioning of the optical transport network, assessing capacity and configuring new and existing infrastructure equipment to advance the deployment of the Intelligent Edge Network (iEN). This will involve learning new technologies associated with the iEN, as well as new systems including ICON and Nautilus. This role will be on the leading edge of technology deployment supporting the evolution (Build, Migrate and Decommission) of the new Verizon iEN Network. You will collaborate with engineers focused on fiber connectivity to coordinate the overall end to end service delivery. You will also lead efforts on capital investments and be empowered to make decisions that keep us ahead of customer expectations. While maintaining a business conscious mindset, you will work to leverage relationships with internal and external partners to effectively execute our commitments.
Serving as one of the technical leads implementing the new CORE network, otherwise known as the Intelligent Edge Network (iEN).
Making decisions on how the network equipment is designed, configured, provisioned.
Taking responsibility for results that impact key performance indicators associated with high revenue services (Wave, E-Line, E-LAN, etc.)
Being empowered to make commitments on behalf of all internal teams that directly influence the customer experience with service delivery and expectations.
Exercising thought leadership to capture user requirements and collaborate closely with IT as we evolve our operational support systems.
Keeping command and control as we deploy the latest technology while maintaining familiarity of the legacy network to ensure migration plans are executed effectively and phase out older technology.
Partnering closely with MCO/OCO as well as Access Engineers and Planners.
Making recommendations that aid in the successful completion of projects within a product or functional area and possibly assisting with the development of new concepts, techniques and standards.
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Three or more years of relevant work experience.
Even better if you have:
A degree in engineering or related technical field.
Knowledge of Hi-Capacity Design and Engineering Processes.
Strong PC skills including UUI / TIRKS.
Ability to work in a dynamic environment and participate in the development of new processes / systems.
Systems expertise including FIM, Microsoft Excel / Access.
Knowledge in the development of the OSP PDAC Designs in TIRKS and the final order send in UUI.
Experience managing issues encountered in the final send / overall design.
Visual thinking skills that enable us to speed network advancement and evolution at scale.
Practical knowledge and experience with open system interconnection (OSI) model.
Knowledge of typical challenges from operational support systems (OSS).
Capable of establishing consensus amongst peers and leading negotiations.
Comfortable working in undefined space and deciphering complex issues.
Familiarity of transport technology as well as current equipment trends.
