VP, Insights & Strategy

For a TV industry that has been transformed by the explosion of choice—choice in platforms, choice in content, and more—how can we ensure we maximize the cross-platform performance of NBCU’s Spanish-language content and marketing to stay ahead of consumer behavior?  Telemundo is looking for a new VP, Strategy & Insights to join the team and help answer that question by leading our primary research function.  The ideal candidate will be a consultative strategist, demonstrating inherent curiosity, creative thinking, and an innovative attitude.  The VP will work across teams within Telemundo to design and execute primary research and share insights around content development, marketing and consumer behavior.  This person must have a passion for data and insights, a deep understanding of media measurement, U.S. Hispanic and primary research expertise.  Success in this role will be found through the use of superior project management and collaboration skills in working with internal and external partners, along with the ability to work effectively with multiple levels of management and communicate complex issues impactfully.
Responsible for ideating, executing and summarizing research from proprietary/syndicated quantitative & qualitative sources into actionable insights for the growth of Telemundo’s business
Focuses on bringing innovative methodologies and consumer insights to the company’s strategic research around the U.S. Hispanic market, programming and marketing
Oversees all content/marketing testing and brand/launch tracking to predict better performance, including the research design and analysis of studies conducted in NBCU’s state of the art owned and partner facilities
Leads the MiTelemundo® insight community strategy and Hispanic component of NBCU’s consumer segmentation
Oversees and manages the Telemundo Enterprises primary research budget including the RFP process
Demonstrates ability to develop and cultivate relationships with internal clients and external vendors
Effectively manages the primary research team
Works under the direct supervision of the SVP Strategy & Insights and is responsible for completing any other tasks as assigned by supervisor
• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Sociology, Entertainment, Media, or related field or equivalent work experience
• Minimum eight (8) years of experience within a managerial/leadership role executing custom market research
• Proven track record in multiplatform television research, and expertise in media and television business preferred
• Experienced in managing strategic projects and working across teams to achieve results
• Demonstrated expertise and proficiency using Microsoft Office applications including Excel (pivot tables, formulas, and filters) and PowerPoint
• Proficient written and verbal communications in both English and Spanish
• U.S. Hispanic market knowledge expertise

• Must be 18 years or older
• Must be willing to work flexible hours including late and/or last minute scheduling changes in a 24/7 production work environment

• Must be available to work (whenever necessary for show production) early mornings, evenings, holidays and weekends
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.

Desired Characteristics
• Ability to assess and understand business needs, and be able to translate those to timely, actionable insights that drive better decisions
• Ability to communicate complex ideas, stories, and data sets in an accessible manner through both verbal and graphical means to a variety of business partners and diverse stakeholders; ability to demonstrate leadership through influence
• Direct experience moderating focus groups a plus
• Passionate for content and the Spanish language category
• Demonstrated strong analytic ability; critical thinker; fast learner; proactive problem solver
