It's a Frantic, Friday Funday! Oh, look! A Squirrel!

MY ATTENTION SPAN IS HOLDING
ONG

FTI] IT'S GONE

Igpre—

Sigh. Attention spans are not what they used to be, are they. No, that's not a question; it's a statement. We know it's true.聽

I think we all know others (could be us as well, right?) who can't focus for more than ten seconds without changing the topic of a conversation. Folks who start cleaning in the kitchen, then get distracted by the television, then notice the pillows aren't quite straight on the couch, then realize the dogs' water bowl is empty, then decide to fold the laundry, but before that they have to check their e-mail, then Facebook, then LI, then beBee . . . and what was THAT noise? Endlessly moving around, touching much but finishing little.

This post is intended as a light-hearted look at the odd moments so many of us have, but it is not intended to slight those for whom it's a daily challenge just to focus.聽

What? Oh, right.

Maybe this is why I usually choose pictures聽for聽my Friday Fundays; they are easy to find, they are usually pretty funny, and they're a quick scan.聽Anyone taking more than a minute to look at them is parobably moving聽very, very, very slooooowly.聽

I think it's the magic of Disney Susan Rooks. UP was an amazing movie!
#18
Squirrel indeed, Graham Edwards! I have no idea why that particular animal is the "poster child" for short spans of attention, but it is funny!
#21
Well, Praveen Raj Gullepalli, I'm not sure there's anything more variable than a two-year-old . . . or a bunch of them. But yeah, official stuff can make it tough, too!
#13
Oh, my, Praveen Raj Gullepalli -- that cat doesn't like you either (so I've been told)! Then again, Grumpy Cat doesn't like anyone or anything. :-) Yes, the great myth of multi-tasking is that we can do a bunch of things all at the same time and do them well. Yeah. No. Not gonna happen. While I do think women are better than men at it (just ask any woman with more than two kids), no one really gives each task the attention it deserves when six or a dozen other things are also demanding attention. Thanks for commenting, and nice to "meet" you here!
Thank you, John White, MBA, for sharing my post!

My kids are on to me and my 'dad jokes' Ken Boddie for giving us a weekly reminder to build some humour (no matter how bad it might be) into our lives.

Well I'll be damned, Kev! Sorry to crash your buzz, Susan Rooks, who shares a preponderance for the same sick, some would say 'dad joke', humour as myself.

You have a 'damned keyboard' too Ken Boddie? I also have a 'damned camera', a 'damned guitar', and a 'damned book'.

Just love this post, Susan Rooks. Reminds me of my own rapidly developing SAS (Selective Attention Span), which, when my wife wants something done on her list of man chores, lasts about as long as "Instead of sitting there at that damned keyboard why don't you ....." 馃挙 馃槀

Hi Susan Rooks, His article was well articulated. I think I commented on that article twice. Agree, ADHD isn't a laughing matter. I'm so glad he wrote that. And, thank you for your kind comment, Susan!
#8
Lisa Gallagher, did you see all the replies to Trent's original article? Again, although it's no laughing matter to those who struggle with this type of attention span disorder daily, one of those comments had me hysterical in the middle of Target. Got some very odd looks, but they were totally worth it. And congrats on becoming one of beBee's brand ambassadors!

It's an odd topic for sure, Aurorosa Sima, and certainly no laughing matter for those truly affilicted with it. But for the rest of us who have just that odd moment -- or a few strung together once in a while, it is funny. Nice to meet you!

Thanks for the laughs, my attention span is fairly good, ah... this show is great. Oh wait, my foot itches.

Thanks for having my back Susan Rooks. No disrespect meant... and this comes from someone who put up a sign in his office to remind myself to FOCUS. My brain constantly runs madly off in all directions.

Now THAT's funny, Kevin Pashuk! And obviously none of us mean any disrespect to those who are afflicted with ADHD -- but we all have at least a little of in us. Of course, it's usually nothing like what some like Trent Selbrede go through; he wrote a heck of an article on LI, and I'm resharing it here. I think it's worth remembering that many of us can laugh at our version of ADHD, but for those who have it "for real," it's not always funny. Awesome post on this topic! https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/living-adhd-trent-selbrede
